Jakkee Kongkaew:

WHO IS HE?
Jakkee Kongkaew is a young Thai artist who produces large scaled woodcut artwork with photographic detail.
WHY DO I LIKE HIS ART?
His prints are very stylised and I feel like my work could be done free hand in a similar. I feel like using this technique would fit some of my work really well. His pieces are extremely detailed and show off textures and patterns perfectly which is what I want to achieve.
WHAT TECHNIQUES DOES HE USE?
He uses the woodcut technique and creates prints on paper. Woodcut on paper is an artistic method of creating illustrations out of wood marks. An image is usually carved out on the inside of wood materials , usually beechwood. This particular woodcutting step raises the outline of image, which is then inked and pressed or stamped on a piece of paper.

OVERALL:
I feel like I could try this wood cutting technique in my own work as I really do like the overall effect that it leaves on the paper. I also want to try recreate the look of this work as I think you could get a similar look with thin illustration pens .
