For this project I chose to draw my room in my University accommodation as it is the room I spend the most of my time in, which meant it would make it easier and more accessible to do an observational drawing of. I drew this room from a birds-eye view as I thought this would give the drawing more interest if it was viewed from a different prospective. This was also my interpretation of thinking of the full 360 of the room as we don't normally view anything form a birds-eye view position so I enjoyed working out what things would look like if we where looking through the ceiling.

This is  one of the first ideas I had for the project and would have been look to made as if we where looking through the forth walland looking into the doorway. I would have shaded the front wall in to give it more of the illusion that we are looking through the wall. Overall i didnt like this deign as much as the other

This was the design I chose in the end as I thought that it would be fun to  imagine the room from a different prospective. This changes size, proportions and angles of the object which creates a whole different feel of the room which I ended up really liking. This is why I ended up choosing this one. Had a few other ideas but they ended up being to complicated

Paul Heaston - room artist that I like:

Jennifer Tracy - room artist that I didn't like as much:

This drawing was done by the artist Paul Heaston, when he had children he had less less time to draw so started to take the opportunity by drawing things such as his living room, kitchen and rooms around the house. He then started to do this when he went out, in place such as restaurants and out of his car window. I like his drawing of rooms because we get a full sense of the room that he is drawing. We understand more about him as a person when we see him draw rooms from his own house, this is from the stuff that he owns and how is stuff is displayed. I especially like the drawings he does in public places. This is because when most people are out, they only concentrate on the actual task they are doing, but this artist has taken the time to appreciate the room around him and the things inside, therefore we are seeing these buildings from a totally different perspective. I also really like the cross hatch and line shading in his work as it adds more depth and creates focal point to his work where he does it more/is darker. The level of detail we see of the room is also very impressive and we can tell he has really taken the time to include everything he sees.

This is a drawing of a room by the artist Jennifer Tracy, the reason I didn't like this one as much is because hers is more of a sketched and less detailed version of the room. I do like how she has managed to include other parts of the house and not just shown one room. I think this one compared to Heastons looks a bit more flat and less interesting to look at. I do like how dark some of the shaded areas are as it does give it a nice three dimensional feeling. Overall I do like the style of this room drawing but it does look quite plain and doesn't have the same energy as the other drawing by Heaston.
