GREAT ARTISTS IN THEIR OWN WORDS:

This episode of this show had a varied range of different artists and movements. I really enjoyed watching this as I found out about new artists such as Richard long, Gilbert and George as well as people like Carl Andres and many more. These artists all have very different ways of presenting, working and expressing their art and this made it easy to watch as there was a lot to learn about a lot of different topics. I especially liked the artist Richard Long as his work was all made from what was round him and I found the concept of him making art from nothing really inspiring. I really liked when he said he makes "something in the middle of nothing". I also enjoyed how they showed the female artist Louise bourgeois and explained how her art wasn't recognised or appreciated straight away because she was a women. I think this is something that is under looked in a lot of sources and only focus on their fame that came later on. Overall I really enjoyed watching the show as it was full of all different form and types of art and this even makes us question the boundary of what can be considered as art, for example: Gilbert and George where known as 'living statues' and were in this character all the time. They where popular mostly because of how unusual/ original they were. I find it interesting that they where considered like a comedy duo and this was classed as a form of art even though they presented their work in a vey different format.
